Pragmatic Play has launched its sportsbook in the UK with long-term partner DAZN Bet. The pair worked together to bring the Pragmatic Play Sportsbook to Spain last year and Germany earlier this year. Now, DAZN Bet UK is set to take on one of the biggest sports betting markets in the world.
You already know that the sportsbook will be top tier, because Pragmatic Play is one of the true heavyweights of the igaming sector. They are famous for its slots that feature on a large portion of the biggest gambling sites in the UK and their best games include Wolf Gold, Gates of Olympus, Big Bass Bonanza and The Dog House.
They also have great live dealer games, but the DAZN Bet Sportsbook is a whole new can of worms that brings the company’s state-of-the-art Player Account Management (PAM) platform to sports betting. That opens up a world of pre-match insights, in-play data, player props and bet builders that could make it your favourite sportsbook in a hurry. It’s definitely going to ruffle the feathers of the big players that are already on the scene.
The company also invested heavily in virtual sports, which could be massive if they have the right platform. These are sporting events that can run round the clock, with no players or animals involved, and that is a potential betting goldmine.
DAZN is exactly the right partner for this kind of venture, too. The broadcasting giant is beamed to more than 200 countries and also has major pay-per-view events. It has become the dominant force in boxing, holds the exclusive rights in some territories for the UEFA Champions League, La Liga and Serie A football. It has done deals to broadcast American Football, motorsport, tennis and basketball and is a global force in its own right.
This sportsbook is a big deal for both parties and there’s no reason to think that DAZN Bet won’t overthrow the likes of Sky Bet in time. It’s following a similar business model of showing the sports it wants you to bet on and there is no better advertising platform than live events.
Daniel Berthold, Managing Director for DAZN Bet across Germany, Austria, the UK, and new markets, sees this UK launch as a pivotal moment for the brand. “This is a major milestone for DAZN Bet. We’ve built a strong presence in Spain and Germany, and now it’s time to bring our innovative and engaging sports betting experience to UK punters. The UK market is a big deal, and we’re confident that this move aligns with our ambitious growth plans.”
Gareth Crook, SVP of Sports at Pragmatic Play, couldn’t be more thrilled. “Breaking into the UK market with our competitive sportsbook product was a huge goal for us,” Crook said. “The UK is the mecca of sports betting—tough, mature, and absolutely competitive. But launching here, hot on the heels of our horse racing product, is a huge win. Our partnership with DAZN Bet only grows stronger with each new launch, and early signs from the UK are already super promising.”
Pragmatic Play is making serious money moves at the moment and it isn’t just limited to the sportsbook. Recently they joined forced with OneCasino to bring their live casino offerings to the Netherlands. They launched their live casino and virtual sports in Mexico with Betxico and did a separate deal with Sazka in the Czech Republic to bring their slots to the Eastern European nation.
On their own, DAZN and Pragmatic Play are changing the face of broadcasting and igaming respectively. Together, they could be a force of nature. Watch this space…
