Modo.us Owner Buys Publisher’s Clearing House
Modo.us owner ARB Interactive just snapped up the legendary Publisher’s Clearing House for $7.1 million in a bankruptcy auction. The plan? Bring the once-iconic brand back to life — this time as a sweepstakes casino.
PCH was a juggernaut in the 1990s. It pulled in over a billion dollars a year, selling magazine subscriptions and tacky household gadgets through TV channels like QVC. But the real draw was the Prize Patrol — oversized checks, balloons, and TV cameras showing up at people’s front doors to hand out life-changing prizes.
End of the Road for Prize Patrol
That all came crashing down in the late 90s. The FTC launched an investigation, accusing PCH of misleading customers into thinking buying products increased their chances of winning. It didn’t. The fallout wrecked the brand’s credibility. Over the next two decades, the magic faded. The sweepstakes dried up, and after a few more legal battles and $40 million in debt, PCH filed for bankruptcy in early 2025.
Now it’s under new ownership.
Digital Future for PCH?
ARB Interactive, already deep in the sweeps space with Modo.us, has taken the reins. The company was working with gaming consultants SCCG Management to pivot the brand toward social and sweepstakes gaming, but it looks like ARB is now going solo.
CEO Patrick Fechtmeyer called it a “chance to honor the legacy” while building something new for modern players. That means the Prize Patrol is going digital, with spins, bonuses, and redemptions replacing the door knocks and balloons.
This could be the most unexpected casino comeback story of the year. And we’ll be watching every step.
